Known and admired equally as a musician as well as an actor, he was part of Frank Sinatra’s legendary Rat Pack, and helped to make a huge impact on the future of African American entertainers to this day. During a time when African Americans were not seen performing alongside white people, Sammy Davis Jr. was, and he was able to attract fans of all races, creeds, and demographics. As a trailblazer for African-American entertainers, Sammy Davis Jr. is a big inspiration to Shemar Moore and many other entertainers of today, as he really helped to make way for other talented African-American people to be appreciated for their own talents.

It can be said that Sammy Davis Jr. was born for stardom, as his mother was a professional dancer and his father, Sammy Davis Sr. was a star on the Vaudeville stage. As a performer well known to be able to do it all, Sammy Davis Jr. had the ability to sing, to act, to master instruments, to dance, and to simply entertain, and this was able to garner him attention from a very early age. Known for his self-deprecating sense of humor, Sammy Davis Jr. was able to knock down the barriers of racism he experienced by being his own biggest critic, and this was a method he used to warm up audiences through self-awareness, which proved highly successful.

Sammy Davis Jr. didn’t see the true nature of racism during the time until he joined the army, and this helped him to continue breaking racial barriers during the 1950’s and 60’s. During the 1960’s, he again pushed boundaries by marrying the blonde-haired and blue-eyed Swedish actress May Britt, who bore him 3 children between the years of 1960 and 1968.

Sammy Davis Jr. is an actor, a musician, and an entertainer that is admired by all entertainers of today, including Shemar Moore, for his mastery of the entertainment world, as well as his penchant for not allowing anything to stand in his way.
